Chapel Street is hardly considered one of Melbourne’s culinary highlights. However, for those of you who’ve been avoiding it due to it’s influx of Country Road, Saba and other chain store counterparts, head on down to the Windsor end of Chapel Street for a damn good chip that’s practically a steal…

Globe, serving breakfast, lunch and even dinner is a regular for the two of us, often finding ourselves there with nothing better to do than fang into a nice bowl of deep-fried goodness… The chips themselves are yum, but pretty stock-standard as far as fries go, with a light sprinkling of salt and pepper. The main attraction is in fact the seeded mustard mayo dipping sauce… It is amazing; meant to be! I’m unsure if the serving size of the sauce is too small, or one of us takes more sauce than the other – that’s a debate for some other time… At only $6 for the lot – yes that even includes the sauce – these deep-fried delights are our always high on our list…

Without trying to make habit of mentioning the cakes on display, these beauties arranged atop Globe’s bar are worth every cent! Particularly the almond croissant… Enough said!

Make sure you take the time to head to this little gem, as even if you hate the food – in which case you have something wrong with you – it is a great place to people watch.

On a completely unrelated note… Today we visited EARL CANTEEN for some gourmet sandwich good times. The sandwiches were fucking great but there were no chips in sight… Still trying to feed our potato cravings, the packet of crisps in the cupboard are looking highly delectable right now…
